Chicano Park, San Diego. An interesting place with a very interesting history. I had to place the camera very carefully to avoid exploiting the people who make this their home.
In this, my first pass at photographing these murals, I really wanted to capture the weight of the freeway that they are supporting. I think they are diminished outside of that context. Sometime in the future, I may try to capture more detail, but in this first try I wanted to capture the totality of the place, not the details. I had an hour and shot 3 rolls. I think 36 shots in 60 minutes is pretty damned good work.
