I think the highlights on left is very distracting. An interesting idea but as a whole, I am not seeing this as a photograph of chairs partly because of the aforementioned highlight issue.
Do you think it would be better if I really burned in the highlight in the lower left corner? Overall the highlights in the digitized version do lack some of the detail and tonality that the original print has. But I do agree the highlights are distracting.
I agree with the tkamiya wrt the highlights, the lower left one crops out pretty well but the blocked up white-black of the windows is pretty jaring. Also, the DOF only grabs the foremost corner of the chair before it starts to blur into the background, I think a little more separation would have been nice.
However after saying all that, I love the tone of the picture - when I first glanced at it I thought for sure you were doing wet-plates, so well done on the printing.
Is there anyhting I can do in development of printing to try and unblock those highlights and window area? I already had some other shots on this roll that were scheduled for n-1 development. Perhaps I should invest in a couple of backs so I can have n-1 and n-2 going on at the same time?
