Centre Street Bridge

Centre Street Bridge

This is my first Van Dyke brown print, of Centre St. Bridge. The process is sensitive to good technique; you may discern a dark line running through the left side of the sky. This is from placing the print into the first water bath wherein it wasn't immediately uniformly immersed, and pigment travelled to the solvent front and left a stain.

As this is a natural product, these natural variations should be considered enhancements and not flaws.

I like this better than the cyanotype. I think the slightly more subtle tones suit the subject matter better. Very nice.

Yeah, I'll work on cyanotype & van dyke and bring a couple of my favorites next time, Eric. Thomas, this does seem a little less brutal than the cyanotype process. I just started both this weekend so it may be that I'll need to work on my technique a bit. Exposure is especially tricky; I might need to get a decent contact printing frame so I can inspect periodically.

In what way do you consider this to be a "natural product"?

I heartily reccomend a decent contact printing frame; it will make the process much easier and your results more consistent.
