Catalina Casino and Harbor

Its been a long time since I posted anything here. This is the casino, now Avalon Theater and Museum on Catalina Island. The Island is off the coast of Los Angeles, California. The casino building was built in May 29 1929 and the interior is an art deco style.

I shot this image with my Zeiss Super Ikonta III using Acros 100. Somehow it was super over exposed, but I was still able to get a good scan. Maybe I can get back into my darkroom and print this soon.

Lovely shot. You had good clouds that day. 'Love the vintage camera. I paddled a sea kayak there from Corona Del Mar in the mid-80s w/ a couple guys.
 
Has real depth to it. I am surprised based on the light conditions that I can in the scan that it is overexposed. Under the sunny f16 rule I'd have expected may be a shutter speed not much more than 1/50th at f16

Maybe if you had not used that camera for a long time the shutter was 'running slow' and needed some 'exercise' ?

This was only the 2nd time i have used the camera.. I think the only shutter speed I used was 1/100.. just varied the aperture. So its very likely that speed is slow. I will have to get one of those speed testers and check it out. I'm also looking for a place to service it, since I want to continue using it. Some of my cameras are "one and done". They were fun for a roll, but I dont plan on using them again. Not so with the Ikonta. Thanks for the compliments!
 
I have had Paul Ebel in Menominie, WI CLA a couple of Ikontas, along with a little repair. He did a great job and for the stated price. There is another guy here in Colorado who did my Mamiya tlr and a couple lenses. PM me if you want their contact info. Nice pic. Those Ikontas are so pleasing to use.
