Carlsbad CA USA is a cool little beach town where I lived for about 6 years during the 90's and is the town where my wife grew up. Nowadays when I go there, it's as a tourist. I seemed to take quite a few shots of trees as I walked through the village on my last trip in Sept 2010 and think I might do a small series.

Your tree is very nice DAM1970,like the open shadows.Use to do alot of surfing around there in the 70's and 80's.
