On Friday the 26th I found myself here, set up and almost lost my fingers to frostbite in the 30 MPH wind. This is the first decent image I've printed from as negative made with my new G-Claron. (Thank you bmac!!).
Great shot John. That Black soil is unique and you use it to great dramatic effect. I used to enjoy bicycling up there and that is one of the few areas in this otherwise hilly region where you can see those wide vistas with distant buildings in impossibly tiny perspective. Keep posting.
I was up there a couple of months ago for the first time in many years (buying Fall potatoes and onions, of course) and I was impressed at how little the Warwick and Pine Island area had changed. Very picturesque. I think that we could give the Mid-West APUG contingent a run for their money in Cow Pix with a bit of effort.
The tones and contrast are excellent. I particuarily like how the canal draws your eyes toward the distant horizon. I also like the single largish cloud in the mid-ground. It was well worth the venture out into the cold. It is amazing how rich and deep the clouds are for having no filter.
Neal: Thanks for your comment. This area is an anomoly in that it's an ancient sea bed surrounded by worn down eastern mountains. The town of Warwick has become a weekend 'darling' for visitors from the city and they've nurtured and cultivated that asset for their commercial revivication. There's a really first rate gellery there too....check it out next time you visit.
Zoglmannk: Thank you for commenting. The emergence of THAT cloud kept me glued to the spot despite the loss of sensation and downright pain in my fingers from the windchill.
Donald: Your concurance with composition and printing is very much appreciated. Thank you for your support!!
