I agree -- I like both these images. Is there something particular that you are looking for in the 123 that the 112 doesn't exhibit? (Just curious as I haven't used the 112 and barely know the 123 at all).

thanks emil. this is the better of the two i think, as it has an etching type quality to it..
rachelle, i am looking for even a small hint of color. this is basically black and white, period. plus it takes FOREVER in the developer. i am not that patient unless the result is breathtaking, which these are not.

If I have to choose, I think I prefer this one. Looking at my own prints with this paper, there is a very nice etching-like quality (going from very deep black up to slightest hints of highlight tone) and with a warm developer, you are going to get some colour, but it's not going to be Fomatone. It's a bromide paper, so it will be on the cold side. I have never toned this paper, so I can't say what happens if you do that, but I think it is worth having a go.

Marianne, have you tried it in hot lith (at least 30-40 C)? That would probably speed things up and possibly add some colour. Here in Japan the graded Fujibro paper liths but it takes about an hour at normal temperatures! I found that hot lith really sped things up to less than 10 minutes in the developer.

In any event, I like the graphic nature of this print -- I think it works well with the image.

Marianne- It may not be what you were after, but it has wonderful tonal, and textural, qualities. A very tactile feeling...
