nice work,
how do you like the Cranes WDP. I am using the platinotype which this replaces since I last order. I will have to reorder soon and was wondering if anyone has experienced and change.
I've never used the Platinotype. But compared to some other watercolor papers I've gotten at Hobby Lobby and Michaels, this beats them hands down.
I'm sure this is common to the Platinotype, but you have to use a light touch when brushing coatings with a foam brush. It does like to raise a "fuzz" when wet.
Interesting!
platinotype you can use brush and rods on it. One thing I found out was some papers are better for coating than others. some have long fibers others short. some hot some cold press. others take the liquid better than others and coat more evenly. those that don't may need tween20 if it works. and the DMax may be lower on some papers than others. SO there is a lot of difference with papers and watercolor papers have the highest variable of all of them.
No problem coating with a rod or a hake brush. But the foam brush I used when applying the salt seemed to encourage the paper fibers to flake off. I decided was just being too heavy handed. Never happened with soft bristles or a glass rod.
