This is a 'performance' stage in Ueno Jinjya in Tokyo. I love this place as it was one of my calm places in the bustle of down town tokyo. The woodwork on the stage is quite old, as fortunately this region (being close to the Imperial Palace) was specifically avoided during the Allied firebombing of Tokyo in WW2.
