But... Is It A Photograph?

For the new work I've been posting, I need to "chisel" the emulsion off of 4x5/5x7 negatives. Occasionally, I scratch them up too much...
Yesterday, I decided to print one, and hand-color it. This was done "quick & dirty" with pencils. I can get smoother colors with oils, if I decide to do more.
My question is, is it a photograph, and is it appropriate to post it here?
I think it would be interesting to see more art made with photographic materials here, not necessarily involving a camera, things like Chemigraphs (images made with photographic paper and chemicals, but not necessarily lenses or pinholes) and physical manipulations, painting over photographs and such. As long as it's not digital, then it's not outside the APUG charter.

I would classify it as a painting that utilized a photo and photo materials. I think you should do more of it...

I don't personally think that it's photography, but that's just my opinion. I think it is interesting enough that you should see where it takes you.

Personally, I am not sure I really care whether this is a photograph or not, it is just a lovely piece of abstract art which I am glad you posted. It shows unique thought and individual craft and I for one really like it. Cheers.

Well... whatever it is, I just printed it as a 20x24. I'll use oils to color it when it dries.

well...photography by definition is the art of producing an image burned onto a light sensitive surface (or something like that). So, Webster would tell you it is. But there are definitions that change over time as the context changes. I like it and if you feel deeply moved to keep producing it, go ahead. It's just like abstract photography in my opinion.
