I was in Yosemite on Saturday for the opening of my show at the Ansel Adams Gallery. I spent the first part of the day shooting some plates in the Valley. 8x10 collodion on aluminum.
Don't think I have ever seen you post this many plates in the gallery before Kerik...and so glad you posted all three of these. This and the rocks are my favorite, but all are wonderfull.
This one has that timeless, pre-1900's feel to it...not sure anyone could tell when it was made aside from the materials. Hope the opening went as well as the moring did.
a very interesting landscape. the subtle rock face in the background being eclipsed by the burned trees seems to be an interesting comment on traditional landscape photography, especially that it was made in yosemite.
beautiful image. congrats on the show in the ansel adams gallery Kerik.
Thanks for the comments. This is my favorite of the day. Yes, a little eerie and a twist on the standard Yosemite genre, I hope. The original, in-camera plate is a one-off, although I shot 3 of this scene and they are all different. This one is the best. I reproduce these in two ways: digital prints from scans and platinum/palladium prints from digital negatives. I enjoy the multi-century-hybrid approach to photography.
