Burnside Bridge at Antietam National Battlefield

Burnside Bridge at Antietam National Battlefield

Scanned as it appears, blue sky and all. Don't ask me how this happened. It may have had something to do with the temperature that August day (mid-90s) and no alcohol in the developer. I like the effect but have no control over it, and the image darkens.

It sure makes it look authentic, though

Bruce I've seen similar effects (although not as dramatic) if I don't rinse well enough before the plate goes in the fix (kcn).

This image is so true to the Civil War pictures that we have all seen, that it would not have surprised me if it included some of Burnsides boys crossing the bridge.

I like it.

George

THose Georgia boys kept the feds on the other side for quite awhile. The sycamore tree on the right in the picture (on the left in reality) was standing during the battle and it's referred to as a "witness tree."
