Leigh, very nice shot of this old tree. They do have an interesting shape, even after they die and hang on, still beauty and grace. I know it isn't the critique gallery, but I played with the image on my monitor and noticed that cropping the bottom shadow areas out, at the lower edge of the print, helps keep my eye more on the tree. Just a thought if you reprint some time, but I do like the image. tim

some nice dramatic contrast and the tones look great on my monitor - I agree with noseoil about the crop though.

Hi Leigh

Excellent photograph. These trees grow at high elevations and are amoung the oldest
trees on earth. IMHO you did the best composition by leaving the shadow in the
foreground. This shadow indicates that there is another live Bristlecone Pine tree
to the front, and here is this older tree amoung younger trees. Did you record the
elevation at this location? Other viewers should take note of the absense of competing
trees at this high elevation. Just as in Life the higher you go the less the competetion.
Congrats on a fun well done...
