Boy

March 2008. Out with my kids in the park I'd for some inexplicable reason been affected by seeing a teenager outside a café looking lonely. I don't know why I thought he was lonely, perhaps it was seeing dozens of kids inside the café and him alone outside. I felt compelled to take this as he wandered off.

A very interesting photograph. I agree with the emotional content - something about a lonely journey. Additionally, this is one of the most fascinating studies in composition that I've seen here. The transition from the rounded shape of the railing to the extremely sharp image of the path to be taken seems to reinforce an idea of being forced into a future beyond one's will - of being deprived of choice, and that is reinforced by the dourly rectangular shape of the net. Good, interest-catching photograph.
