Bow Falls, Banff AB

It was a rarely cold winter here. We got hit with -20 temps for weeks on end. The good side of that was the river below the falls froze over and you could walk across it to the other side. Once there this is what awaited you.

Brrr! makes me feel cold, must turn down the aircon.
Have you tried a pre flash to hold highlight detail? Also it looks to me to be too high in contrast and slightly over exposed, you may also want to try a 4 instead of a 5 just to see.

The actual print isn't as contrasty as this jpg. It's seems to be a tough image for the scanner to deal with. I tried all the usual scanning tricks but it always came out mushy. The contrast in this file is mainly due to high-pass sharpening. The print is razor sharp.

Ahh I miss the mountains, cold or no cold ... I gotta get the shot! This is a wonderful black & white image. How do you like FP4, don't have much experience with it, but some people from the darkroom group also use it, so now I'm interested.
