Bouncy Bridge

One of 2 suspension bridges over the River Ness in Inverness, it doesn't take much to get them moving. In fact, ever since being brought here as a kid it has been hard to resist the temptation to get a good motion going on them while crossing as it annoys folks, but today that would be "antisocial behaviour" whereas 40 years ago it was high spirits and good fun!

Whatever, this was shot on a day out last Saturday to decide whether 35mm was wide enough for a rangefinder or if I had to go wider. The photo was taken with a Russian Jupiter 12 on a Kiev 4a, and the lens serial puts it as made in 1984. It is a strange little lens in that this shot seems acceptably sharp to me, whereas others don't seem that sharp at all. Ho hum.

I know what you mean about the lens being sharp/not sharp. I used to have (still do, but don't use it at all anymore) a chinese "Seagull" folding rangefinder. Some shots were perfectly sharp, and others would come across like I was using a Wolly Verito with the soft-focus dial set to "5". Never could predict when it would and when it wouldn't, so I retired the camera.

Great perspective-definitely the right lens for this. Love the grain.

I have read that Russians lenses suffer from a lack of good production control. My 53mm on my Kiev rf is very sharp with great contrast. This camera lens combo is a steal at $50 USD and I've used it after leaving it in the car during a -20f spell in Vermont without fail (the film fared worse).
