Some elk, deer? bones I came across in Wyoming. Experimenting with varycon for lithing. I still need to practice as I mostly am getting very muddy or straight b/w looking prints. I am pleased with this one but I think it can be more impactful with the right technique I haven't found yet:)
The paper matches the image well. I may have to get a pack of Varycon. Nice image. You may want to try it again with more feathered edge burns (or there is a processing problem of some sort).
thanks mark, the whole right side is over developed compared to the rest for some reason, I was looking for the rock to expose and the rest just went black - I shall endeavor to do it with more care on the next try erik
Nice result, Erik. I use Varycon a lot with AristaLith, and love it. I find that shorter exposures turn out best with this combination. I get this very warm brownish tone with golden highlights that I absolutely don't want to tone afterward! Great for natural landscapes with water in them particularly. Strong developer and short exposure should get pretty far with this combo.
Thanks Thomas, I was hoping for results similar to the link you provided but I'm not doing something correctly I'm getting mostly dull gray! what dilution are you using if I may ask? erik
Erik, I use the powder kit of Arista Lith, and I use 200ml A + 200ml B + 2,800ml water + 800ml old brown. I season the developer with two sheets of 8x10 paper that is so fogged I can't use it for anything else.
And I use the developer at 80*F.
