This GERMAN greeted me every day as I entered to the Path Lab to work in the British Military Hospital. Iserlohn -- the hospital WAS a 'Panzer' HQ and the story goes as the Yanks came up the road the tanks were driven into the Seilersee Lake near the Hospital
There is some film of 1./s.Pz.Jg.Abt512 (Jagdtigers) surrendering at Iserlohn in April 1945 on Youtube. The buildings seem surprisingly intact even then.
I like the choice of angle. There probably was not much choice to get it large in the frame, but the way the bas-relief faces works well. It is also interesting in that the subject was contemporary.
It has a nice 3D look! I was in Iserlohn 1981&82 for an Orchestra Workshop of 1 week 2x. Loved this city they call it "Waldstadt" woodcity if I remember right, because of much Wood around the city!
Yes --- I went for walks in the woods up on a hill overlooking BMH iserlohn -- one day I saw a rusty WWII German helmet lying half hidden -- i had a look and there was a small bullet hole on one side but a much LARGER hole on the other side -----
