Photograph orchid flowers if you want to make critical tests of color balance and rendering. I have found that the color recorded by both film and digital rarely matches the actual flower. The actual flower is slightly more pink than the scan, but I applied no color correction to the digital scan. Scanning or printing flower pictures accurately really does take skill. All variables considered, it's easier to grow the flower and appreciate what it is.
