Bill It could be my monitor but this looks strange for a sepia toned print. Yes there's a hint of brown but it looks to have quite a green cast to it.

It's different, I'll say that.

Yes, Im having real trouble scanning my prints to match the originals with my laptop. The colour changes according to how I tilt my screen !
Thanks for pointing out.
Interested to hear what others see ?

Image tone apart, I think this is successful. Diffusion is a good tool in the darkroom, and I think your treatment enhances the drama and the stark look, but also adds a softness that I think compliments the surface texture.
(Try looking at your monitor straight on, without angling it up or down any).

I like it. At first I thought it was some other process like collodion on black glass. Diffusion under the enlarging lens can be creepy, but sometimes creepy is interesting.

I adjust scans for the web on a laptop with an LCD screen, and I use a gamma test pattern on Norman Koren's website to adjust the tilt. Go to--

http://www.normankoren.com/makingfineprints1A.html#Gammabox

and scroll down to "Monitor Test Patterns," and you should probably use the pattern for Gamma = 2.2. Of course you can't count on everyone else's monitor to be calibrated or adjusted for gamma, but I've been finding that things look better on other computers if I'm calibrated.
