Birdhouse

Back in the saddle again after a brief break to troubleshoot some problems with the process. I made 5 plates earlier today and this is one of the better ones. Not the most enthralling of subjects, but I needed to try some new developer. This time, no blue tones at all in ANY of the plates I poured. This one was using my own prepared collodion and my own prepared developer..Not the Bostick and Sullivan kit I was using.

I really enjoy how you used the shape of the tree to coincide with the falloff of the lens. That is some very good eyes on your shoulders there, my friend.

Thanks Thomas... Just exploiting the lens signature This process has had me in fits trying to figure out where all the blue tones were coming from where it seriously shook my confidence. This shot is a little over exposed, but I was VERY surprised just how fast this collodion I made is. This was only a 1 second exposure @ F4 and could likely do with about a 1/4 or 1/2 a second instead!

I think it's a wonderful image, too. A technical question, not to be construed as criticism: Is the solarized appearance due to overexposure? Not having tried this process, I'm curious.

The overexposed/overdeveloped highlights look great against the almost pitch black vignetted corners. Maybe you have a unique way of shooting collodion this way?

Looks great Andrew, wonderful that you are making your own too. I will hopefully be taking a course on Collodion sometime this yera...now I have another source of support LOL!!...K

Surreal !!

Looks like you have solved your problem. Interesting photo too.
Sometimes I think my photos are boring and then I see paintings I wouldn't buy that sell for good bucks and I guess beauty really is in the eye of the beholder.
The point is, put your best into it and let others judge it. Don't feel bad for what you've done.
