While the reproduction is faithful to the original plate, it is lacking in the emotional intensity of the tintype. Andrew seems to have the sort of talent feared by those who refuse to be photographed because they fear it will steal something from their psyche. Viewed in the original, Andrew's portraits prove that they may have a point.
