Tests of Delta 3200 shot at 1600, developed in HC-110. For high shutter speed I think it doesn't do too bad. Black to white isn't too bad though I overcooked the one gull a bit, might need to redo if there is more highlight detail in the neg, might need to dodge that one a bit.

I'm using neopan 1600 right now and find that using microdol-x keeps the grain under control to a point. since micro isn't being made anymore I'll be on the hunt for a better or equal fine grain developer. love the timing on the shot. takes skill to do that. unless you are using a digital camera and shoot all day and delete and shoot again till you get it.

Thanks.

I wanted to get some Neopan 1600 but sadly I found out about its cancellation too late and I wasn't able to get any more :-( So I thought I should start running through some Delta 3200 since I was quite enjoying the Delta 400. I will have to try DD-X and Microphen as I said to see if I can get the grain down a bit though for a lot of shots it works out well. Here I wanted a high shutter speed to freeze the wings so the 1600 film speed was useful, not just a test.

My Canon EOS-1N RS has a 6 millisecond shutter lag in RS mode so I only need one shot to get the one I want. The camera has a pellicle mirror so not only is the shutter lag almost non-existant but I can see the shot while I'm taking it, like a rangefinder, so if the wing covers the birds head or if a person blinks then I know I need to take another shot which is nice, kind of like digital in a way but instead of instant review I have instant shot feedback. I like this compared to the usual image blackout of the SLR, for action shooting and even for portraits it is quite useful. Fun for lightning and water droplets too. In this case I had the shot I wanted though often I will take a few shots of a water landing sequence to get the splash.
