thanks for the kind comments, everyone. Jerry, the highlight at top right is not as bright on the print, it just scanned that way. Good point though.

well taken. It looks quite intimate and almost cosy which is the opposite of the reality. As the nearest tree trunk is so dark, it is almost like a black border.

At a slightly different angle it might have been possible to either cut the trunk out of the neg or include it but with a bigger gap between the trunk and the bench. Then there's the option of producing a cropped and uncropped print with and without the trunk to determine which is better.

I think isolating the bench from the trunk to the right might improve it.
