From Saturday, January 12th, in rare fog lasting for two days. I had hoped to find this kind of scene, and this was right where I went looking. What you can't see here are the hundreds, and hundreds of geese sitting in the field just behind the tree. If I had scared them into flight, it would have made an amazing photograph. But...I didn't ;-)
Thank you Don, Hexavalent, and bsdunek. The corn stalk stubble is characteristic of such a field in winter, but having one lone tree in the middle of a cornfield is exceptional. I was lucky to find it.
