Behind the house

After looking at Becky Lynn's photograph "Hazel's Kitchen," I felt the need to print this...

I made this photograph at my uncle's house in Salvador, Brazil, before traveling to the sertão region and shooting the series I have been posting so far. This photograph was shot in the same mindset as these two:

Sort of a long term series, I guess.

After a long break from the previous sertão series, and shooting "landscapes" and self portraits, I needed to warm up a bit. A few days later I boarded the bus to Xique-Xique, and my shooting mentality changed completely.

Let me know what you think of this shot.

Andre I really like this one and I keep looking around captured by curiosity. Nailed I think!

Ah, Bahia, that brings back delightfull memories...
I love the mood of the composition. It just has so much warmth. I can almost sense your uncle! He must be a dear person to you Andre.

Thank you, Eric, Tony, and Aristotelis

You've been to Bahia? And you managed to leave Bahia? That's always the tough part for me... You are 100% right about my uncle; him and his family are very dear to me...

I'm glad you folks liked this one...

This is a wonderful picture, it has the feeling of inticamy, the feeling of being closely connected. Better pictures are always made in such conditions.

The only thing I can hope is that you keep the size small. I would make it a contact print (but I make everything as contact prints---even 35mm) There are ways of getting that warmth with Azo (and more of a glow also) and you would lose nothing. They might be even more intimate.

I visited your website and see that your consideration of space is always very careful. That gives your work more feeling and holds more interest. Again, very well done.

Andre, I was in Bahia for two weeks on my brazilian trip that lasted a month. I stayed mostly in Salvador, went around and also spent three days in Mohro de Sao Paolo. Since then I have been dreaming of returning to Brazil. At one time I thought of marrying a brazilian so I could have summer all year long.
I have been trying to track a lost paulista friend, a photographer too and when I find him, I'll be back!
