There are so many lines in this one. The siding on the building , the roof line, the railings (?) in the fore ground...even the line of telephone poles in the distance. Where do all those lines lead me? To that pole that stands tall and alone on the horizon? Or, do they lead to the vast empty distance? The composition leaves me feeling kinda empty.

I think that was kind of the idea Brad. This is a ruin of a dream, an African American farming community from the turn of the last century that collapsed during the depression and dust bowl. It also is a commentary on the lack of will to try to preserve an important part of Colorado history. This area has been listed on the most endangered places by the Colorado Historical society and virtually nothing has been done. Most of the buildings are piles of rubble and this one is getting close.

I hadn't thought about this particular image as much as you have in this regard, I am drawn to emptieness. No doubt this is why I go east to shoot when west of me are some of the most beautiful mountains in the world.

Thanks Brad!
