Bears

That is so incredibly sad - was the bear starving? It looks seriously underweight. I live in bear country and know bears in their wild state...I can't imagine a more punishing circumstance...

That's from a bear country too. The picture was taken at Izmailovo flea market in Moscow. The bear was entertaining the crowd. It is a brown bear, it is smaller than grizzly, but no doubt it's life is sad.
The background is a rendition of a famous painting, kind of a Russian cultural icon. Bear is Russian totem animal.
The whole series Animal Fables I am going to post a part of, is not cheerful.

Your Animal Fables are not cheerful indeed...then again, who says art has to be pretty? Keep them coming!
