Hey, thanks Dinesh, Jan and Blaze-on! I inked this bromoil print today as I have been testing papers, seeking a replacement for my old favorite: Agfa MCC 118, which, of course, is no more. (R.I.P.)
This image was shot on the coast of East Sussex, England. I'm not sure where the exact boundary of Birling Beach and Beachy Head is? This location is just north of Seven Sisters cliffs. I shot the light house so it's around there somewhere - lol! Thanks for all the nice comments! Gene
Thomas, it's difficult to compare this paper with Agfa MCC as they are so different. Agfa had a wonderful texture for bromoil - the fine grain matt surface produced a mezzotint pattern that trapped the ink. I can hardly detect any grain on the surface of Kentmere Fineprint. It's more like Ilford matt. This was my very first bromoil on Fineprint. Maybe with experience I'll learn how to control the ink on the surface of the paper better.
Thanks for the replies, Gene! If you want to check out a paper that has a similar texture to the Agfa MCC, try the Fotokemika Varycon matte surface from Freestyle. Perhaps that could better help arrest the ink? What do I know.... Haven't even started Bromoiling yet.
