I had to stop, think about it for a while, and come back to comment. The compositional elements, both the ground, fence, and sky all point towards a point beyond the print border. I imagine a vanishing point to the left of the left border. That in itself is interesting. The repetitive pattern in the fence is also very attractive. A fence is usually an item to shut things out, or to keep something contained, but here it's rather inviting in actually letting light into the scene of an otherwise gloomy and ominous looking sky, and the low angle of light produces dark shadows on the ground. I like all of this, as well as the simplicity of the image, but most of all of the remarkable light captured on the fence. Silver at its best in my opinion. It practically glows.
