I set Shutter speed to 1/250 to blur propeller, otherwise a stationary prop looks strange in the air. The Swift is like a miniature fWWII fighter. Very responsive on the controls. Kent
I was of course kidding about the prop. Of course you are right about the strangeness of an apparently stationary prop but I was surprised that as little as 1/250th has virtually made it disappear. I'd have thought that a faster speed was needed but maybe the closeness of the prop helps. If I am ever in a position to take the same kind of shot this one has helped a lot, Thankspentaxuser
A case of opening a comment without engaging my brain. A faster shutter speed is required for a stationary prop. If at 1/250th the prop disappears I wonder what speed is needed for a stationary prop- a 1/1000th, 1/2000th or even more?It seems that maybe 1/125th would give a suitable blur without spoiling the view of the runway
Propeller RPM is usually 2300-2500 rpm, so generally anything under about 1/350 shutter speed will blur the prop. In my limited experience, 1/250-1/320 works well for the propeller blur but keeps other things in the photo sharp enough.
