Yes, know the frustration of not being able to properly reproduce big prints. Still, nice subject to photograph you chose, and that with 14x17 at night!
 
A little trick to doing some of these type of things is don't spoon feed the viewer all the information. Make them work for it or study it. The first thing I notice is the sign, which is a common response to a store front. We want to know what it is of. And you immediately answer it... Barrel House Liquors. You did too much work for me. If you cropped the top down to the first R or even part way down on the R, it makes me work to discover the picture. Then I work it out by seeing the barrel as the door. You take an interesting moody picture to another level when I have to participate in it. In short you solved the mystery for me, instead of forcing me to do it myself.
