I would trim off the tree branches at the extreme left edge. I also feel that a bit more billiance in the whites would be an improvement. A nicely seen photograph.
You know the thing about the branch is interesting to me. I find that many of my photographs have stray branches and things on the edge. I was beginning to think I was not paying enough attention to the edge of the frame, but now I wonder if I am just wanting to hint and remind that there is more out there and this is just a small selection I have made. Or maybe it is just my Libra sensibilities coming through. I am not sure but I will say that it happens more times than not.
I have to agree with Claire, perhaps a little bit of dye dodging on the bar face would have given a little bit more sparkle to the print.
OTOH I find Ray's comment about the branches emphatic with a few of my pictures. I have one picture that has exaclty the same "problem". A branch sticking out, and while most people have told me it bothers them, I kind of like it for the same reason Ray describes. In my case I always look at the edges, and even when I took the picture, I decided to leave the little piece of branch sticking out.....right or wrong I think I know where Ray is comming from.
Try taking your hand or paper and covering a small section on the left, to crop out the tree. Personally, I think it completely changes the whole image! I prefer the branches and do not find them distracting or "Wrong" in anyways.
About the whites in the print...well, its a platinum print! I know how difficult it is to get a pure white and black. I would like to see the barn abit lighter, but would not want to see the texture in the clouds and sky disappear! I like the separation of the clouds and the building.
