Barbaric yawlp of love

Was shooting some portfolio stuff for this girl and while taking her coat off she brought her head back, and I saw this image, it reminds me of the end if "Fifth Element" when the "Lilu Dallas" discoveres love and saves the planet. Hence the title.

  1. Yes
yup, very 5th element-ish, conveys it well. i like that the image gives you graphically interesting information AND raises whole bunch of questions! nice use of space contrast.

Very interesting pose, Stone. Unusual and unexpected.

Well, it reminds me of something else but not bad indeed. Nice contrast between skin and couch. Tip: let your models go nude (bathrobe)sometime before the shoot. time depends on their age; under 25 one hour, above; 2 or 3 hours, over 45 we call them wrinkles because I can see skin marks(??) of her bra and some on her right leg. happy shooting!

Thanks guys, glad it comes off as more than just a nude, it's meant to convey more, so glad it does. The lines, I know, though I rarely have more than an hour of shooting time with models and often use newer models who are doing their first nude posing so to make them comfortable I allow them to take off the bra if and when they choose, they've come to me because they've seen my work and want to be a part of it, but are certainly not completely comfortable. Some are repeats and those I certainly do the robe when possible. This one was done at her tiny apartment and her room mates were in the next room so there wasn't a lot of pre-nude time. I try to be cautious about that, but it does happen. I'll be even more careful going forward

I've seen Mapplethorpe make the same "mistake" ...

Looks more like a moan of ecstasy than a barbaric yawlp. Which, by the way, is a Walt Whitman phrase.
Yes I'm aware of the Whitman origins, and I suppose if you've never seen "The Fifth Element" you wouldn't recognize the pose, and could see it as ecstasy.
