Critiques welcome! First sheet of 4x5 through new pinhole camera bought new on eBay. Film I had supposedly expired 4/2009. I tray developed in 1/50 Rodinal because I'm not all set up with tanks and hangers. This really is my first 4x5 ever. Scanned on my cheep flatbed scanner but the problem is not the scanner, the neg has no real details in it. So is this a sign of baked film? I got the film from someone who had no clue how it was kept.
shoot another. make sure you have no light leaks. give it way more time. 10 sec. is not enough IMO. shoot before dusk to make your life easier. google "the pinhole designer" great tool.
hi!
try to make an actual contact print ..
(or adjust the levels / contrast )
and see how THAT looks. it looks like
a dense negative that your scanner didn't replicate well ..
Thanks for all your useful comments. I approached the builder/seller of the camera as well. He told me about some films having a reciprocity effect. Looks like Eddie Gunks may very well be accurate. If you look at this link http://www.bergger.com/us/bpf200.html Bergger stated that for a 10 second exposure time as calculated by meter, the curve indicates something more like 24, 25 seconds..
I'm going to give this another try this weekend. I'm not giving up. I love the good pinhole images on this site. I've wanted to do this for a long time. By the way I was only like 15 feet away from this tree. That might be another angle to consider with this particular camera because it is a very very wide angle (just what I wanted).
