The enemy battle line facing us in Averasboro, North Carolina. The photo was taken in March of 1999. This print was made in November, 2014 on 8” x 10” paper.
Were you participating in this, or were you "just" taking pictures.?
I am no expert on prosecuting usa, civil war era army tactics.
Was it normal for that many soldiers to be packed in like that.... maybe it is a way to concentrate the firepower of those times.?
Great Great photo..... i would have thought it was an original.!
I was on the field as a Union medical officer, but had my Nikon F in my haversack. The soldiers fought in dense lines, shoulder to shoulder, two ranks deep. Massed firepower was the key, aiming at individuals was beyond the marksmanship of most, and not possible once the smoke multiplied. The expired Tri-X did not give acceptable photos in the usual sense, but did give an "original", "being there" feel, so I decided that must have been what I wanted! (PS expired film was not by choice, but don't tell anyone)
