Andrew you have photographed a beautiful landscape and captured all the detail, but somehow I think the IR does not do it full justice. I would love to see this shot in ordinary panochromatic film.
I shot the same scene on TMX, and it doesn't work. It's dull and lifeless. The IR version has more presence. Also, the scrapped vehicles do not stand out like they do in the IR version. Thanks for commenting!
This is great, Andrew. The atmospheric perspective is superb. It actually reminds me of some Chinese/Japanese watercolor landscapes I've seen (influenced by your time there?). There's a timeless quality to your treatment, betrayed only by the wreckers, which requires a bit of mental gymnastics from the viewer (at least this viewer).
Great picture, the cars look like model, the whole scene reminds me of a model railway set.....expect to see a steam locomotive coming around the hill.
I'll echo eddie's comment above, it also reminds me of traditional Chinese landscapes. Interestingly, I recall seeing one modern Chinese artist who subtly (as here) references pollution/modern junk in recreating those types of images...that also is brought back by seeing this image
