My daughter on her 18th birthday a few weeks ago. 8x10 collodion on aluminum. I shot plates of her and several of her friends in the waning light of the day and the exposures were loooong.
Great stuff, Kerik! It's a beautiful photograph of a beautiful young woman. I wholly enjoy the stillness of this photograph, she seems very calm, and the hair looks great especially as the light and sharpness starts falling off. A really fine portrait!

This is terrific, Kerik. I love the general softness from the long exposure, juxtaposed with the brilliant eyes. I imagine this photo will be cherished for years and years to come.
What a paradox that so static an exposure can reveal such animation and expressiveness through those marvelous eyes! I hope she appreciates how special this 'graph is. It seems to be so authentically herself.
Thanks for the comments. What you don't see, is that one of her friends is behind me jumping up and down trying to make her laugh. When I figured out what was happening, I turned around and gave her friend the "stare of doom" and she stopped. When I saw the plate, I thanked her friend for helping.
Damn.... She and the portrait are beautiful Kerik. One of the sweeter ones you've done in my opinion. Off to school soon? You and Carol's hearts must be breaking!
