Askrigg and Addlebrough under Snow

We had the first significant snowfall in the Yorkshire Dales for 4-5 years over Easter, when about 6” (150mm) fell overnight. So, it was time to get out and photograph some of the places I’d been saving for the right sort of conditions. This is the village of Askrigg in mid Wensleydale with Addelbrough hill beyond. Tricky to get a good scan on this, and the next few images, as the highlights seem impossible to control. This is the best I seem able to get. Hope it looks ok on everyone’s monitors.

It's only in certain areas that the snow is almost pure paper base white and I suspect that at this distance it would appear that way in real life.

Snow at Easter. A sure sign that the cricket season is just around the corner.
