Ashness Bridge

Ashness Bridge

Not the most original of subjects but one I enjoy returning to, if only because it's possible to capture a nice image without getting up at six in the morning!

This is my first scan with my HP Scanjet G4050 which I bought to replace an ageing Canon scanner that packed up recently. The Canon treated all shadows as black, the G4050 produces loads of shadow noise! Can't seem to win with flatbeds.

Oh man, looking at this is like inhaling a breath of fresh mountain air. Utterly beautiful!

Well, as you say, not the most original of subjects but, IMO this is the best rendition I've seen. I like the contrast between the dark, moody stream and distant Skiddaw basking in the warm light. It's a light that any admirer of the Lake District knows and loves. Excellent.
