I seldom comment on APUG prints, but this one caught my eye. Now I know why, because the style of building and flora was somehow familiar. It was familiar because not only do I like this subject matter, but also because there is something distinctly Australian about it. I'm an Aussie too and abandoned farm houses/shacks are a specialty of mine.
Looks like I had better comment as well. As a cross-country skier with a love of the huts in the "high country" of SE Australia, I was also attracted to your posting. This is a nice image that really captures the essence of these abandoned seasonal homesteads. Thanks for posting this image.
I was thinking that you could find this very same abandoned shack in various areas in the USA. I know I have seen it in the very small communites in Oklahoma. Nicely done.
great subject matter Tony, i also enjoy finding and photographing such remnants of long forgotten lives
the family and i will be on holiday on the south coast at the end of the month, i'll have to get up to Araluen and look around, i was there 30 years ago but wasn't much into photography then
