Apples and sink widget

Interesting photo. I respond to the warmth of the honey colored wood and the grain, but the blackness of the right side frightens me. Was that intended?

I find this photograph to be confusing. The reason that I say this is that the "known objects/fruit) are competing with abstract shapes and void as represented by empty shadow.

I think that the potential of two images exist here. The first would be a pure abstract of light, shadow and shape. The second limage would be a more completely lit scene where more information would be shown in the area where empty shadow now exists.

I really like this, the long shadows, heavy contrast.. for some reason it almost has a painterly feel. Though the little widget is a little distracting, I still like it.
