Same light, same exposure, same filmroll, same developer and same scan, nothing done other than levels, spotting, a touch of unsharp mask and adjustment of the subject size given the 2 different focal lengths.
Both at max aperture, distance to subject approx. 35cm/13.77inches.
Pretty obvious that the Ysaron is optimized for the close-up range.
The Ysaron has always enjoyed a good reputation, while the Apo-Lanthar is just plain legendary! Can't see a lot of difference here apart from the Ysaron appearing a bit sharper. The Voigtlander looks smoother though, with a more pleasant oof area. How do you rate them in general use?
kind of hard to judge sharpness if you use unsharp masking. I would have like to see just a plain scan of both without any adjustments at all. the minute you play with the adjustments you have lost the whole point of showing us this. They both may be slightly soft to start with. But with the unsharpe mask you lost any of that. and using any other adjustments you loose weather there is more contrast or flatter the one lens is over the other.
