Wonderful to see this. I've made that trek to the landing about twenty times, but haven't been there for seven years. That's an amazing hike and you certainly got a wonderful photograph of it. You got its magnitude. How'd you like what my father and I always called the Devil's Staircase? (the tight switchbacks on the way up)
Not a place for vertigo sufferers! I had to look at this after seeing the thumbnail and wondering whether it really was that pink. Often thumbnails don't reflect the real colours, making them too muted or too stark but now I can see that the lower rocks are really that pink.
Thanks for commenting. I tried to put this image next to the Angel's Lanidng 1 image to keep some continuity, but on second thought, I should have waited for 5 more images to post before adding that one so they would line up vertically in the Gallery. The "staircase" which I believe is called Walter's Wiggles is certainly a good workout. I wish we had gotten an earlier start on this last August because humidity was a bit high as was the heat. I forgot to peer over and count the # of husbands over the side, something to consider next time. It's a great hike (about 5 miles round trip) with very rewarding views, just remeber to hire a Sherpa if you bring anything larger than a Rolleiflex.
