Angel of the North

Angel of the North

This sculpture by Antony Gormley stands overlooking the A1 route in England. It stands 65 feet high and has a wingspan of 175 feet, thus making it a difficult shot for the passing photographer. I was only there for an hour or so and I would love to return with another lens. Do check out the website.

For those of us living in the UK it's wonderful to see an image of this structure that doesn't show the outstretched wings in profile . A great take on a hakneyed/cliched structure - the sculptor would probably love to see this one !

Thank you Miles & Andre for your comments. "digiconvert" it is only from seeing so many great photo's of the Angel that made it a must visit place for me. All the photo's I saw were impressive but not nearly as impressive as to see the structure in reality.

Cheers
Vincent

It is an impressive structure, i can see it from my flat in Newcastle several miles away.

Fantastic sense of size and the grain really adds something too.

Thanks Jim, living so close must give you the oppertunity to photograph in all types of weather. It's so impressive it must be difficult to take a bad shot of it.

cheers
Vincent
