Anachromatique

The new crown jewell to my lens collection is an Objectif Anachromatique Francaise 385mm. This is just a test shot while I learn. With a temperament befitting her name, ana will surprise you with each try. Since the lens is 2 opposing non achromatised menisci visual focus is not what you get at all. I focused between the front and 2 side chimney holders on the glass. Then in an act of faith I roll the film about an inch closer to the lens. The result is what you see. Somewhere between visual focus, chemical focus, and black magic the lens which is at about f9 makes a very well defined picture that retains a magic glow. A normal sharp 385mm lens at f9 would focus only 3/8 inch sharply and then you'd have blur either side of critical sharp. I've just about finished up using every type of antique lens and this one just rocks!

Wonderful lens qualities. The sheen off the glass and metal is really nice.

Objectif Anachromatique Francaise?

Ooo-la-la!!!

Perhaps it's time photography usurped the term "extraordinary rendition" from the politicians...

I know. If my wife finds out about Ana, I'm meat.
