An impromptu photo at the end of a rather unproductive day. But I like it and it's one of Amy's favourites too. It's absolutely horrible to print though because I push HP5+ to 800 and keeping details in dark hair is a nightmare. This scan is a reasonable representation of the hair detail. What do you think - too little?
This looks pretty special Ian, i look forward to seeing it for real. I really like her expression, she looks very peaceful. A shame its horrible to print but does it match the tonality of the others in the series? Oh yeah i got the platinum today, many thanks, cheques in the post .
Thanks both. Yes David, after a boatload of test prints it matches the tonality of the others. And as I've finally calibrated my new scanner, the JPEG is actually reasonably close to the print also I'm glad the Pt arrived safe and sound without being crushed under the heel of an wild eyed postie.
Hi Ian, this is a beautiful and calm nude. As Dave said, she looks very peaceful but also confident. Tones look to me very nice and the not so ordinary composition works well too.
I like this image Ian. I'm especially attracted to the 'fan' of wrinkles in her neck. Nice detail. I wonder what it would like less soft and more contrasty? That is, more of her separated from the background too. More curiosity than critic of this image, as I mentioned, I like this lot.
Thanks everyone, and thanks Art for mentioning the wrinkles I love details like those. I tried a higher contrast Pt/Pd print and it didn't really work. The Polaroid proof (http://www.purestorm.com/profile.aspx?id=lonelymutterings) is higher contrast, but a bit too harsh for me.
Superb, Ian! I absolutely love her expression. The tight composition with her looking down, filling the empty space below is just right. It feels good to look at this. Fantastic print!

No. I don't think the "lack of detail in her (dark) hair" is anything even remotely like a problem. If anything, it lends a little mystery to her facial expression.
Holistically, it is a beautiful image.
