American Tobacco Company

Bromoil transfer. Litho inks transferred onto laid paper using an etching press. Two press pulls - one in black, the other red-orange.
Location
Richmond, Virginia
Thank you MC! This building was a Half and Half pipe tobacco plant for many years. Then it set empty for a decade. It was converted to an art center and I had a bromoil studio there. Then the owners kicked the artists out and converted the building into up scale apartments. That seems to be what happens to art studios in Richmond! Gene

I klnow nothing about bromoil transfer... I do know that this is a wonderful image and masterly done...

Gene, they're doing the same thing here...kicking out the gallery on the dock to build an apt bldg for big bucks! Next door, they tore down a really nice restaraunt to build a parking ramp for the new convention center.

Anyway................ I love this image. It's just beautiful!

Wow, this is a gorgeous print. Your work is very evocative- the photographic equivalent of a master storyteller.

All the best,
Daniel

I wonder if I can get a spot as a studio in the old Schmidt's brewery in St Paul, Minnesota? Naaah. Probably be condos. I'm glad you have this beautiful print and the memory! Beautiful print, Gene!
