American Flyer

Model rail fans want to recreate this scene. An N&S locomotive advances along an old PRR track under highway bridges in a winter wooded landscape. Thanks for looking!

I agree with Mick, in this specific picture cropping the sky puts the full attention of the viewer on the tracks and the oncoming train.

But, I love the positions of the bridges and the oncoming train. I do agree that it could use some cropping from the top. If I was still doing model railroading, yes, it would inspire me. Maybe when I'm to old to get out and photograph.

The crop seems like a good idea. I'll try that as well as burning in more of the cloud texture that is there on the negative, to put a bit more interest in the sky. Thanks!

As a railway man I would be concerned that you are standing in the middle of the track photographing an oncoming train. Not very fair on the loco driver.

I was thoughtful of your concern. The approaching locomotive is about a half mile distant (the wonders of a telephoto lens) and was going at a rate of a about 12 miles per hour due to the poor condition of the track, so I was able to get out of the way before the driver even sounded the horn.
