Very nice and very film noir, but you know what I thought? If you had the hand with gun shadow missing then it would reinforce the idea that a shadow carries the big gun. You could also try a glove, black or white.

hehe, some nice points there arigram, implementing that might be a task however. i do like the idea of a black glove to further add to the mysteriousness.
